You Don’t Need 10K Followers to Be a Content Creator

Let’s get one thing straight — the number under your Instagram name doesn’t define your potential. You don’t need 10,000 followers, a verified tick, or daily DMs from PR girls to call yourself a content creator. What you do need? Vision, consistency, and a little audacity

We know — it sounds cliché. But we started reaching out to brands when we had around 500 followers. Not because we were “influencers,” but because we had influence. Because we were already creating content that looked and felt aligned with the brands we loved. We styled shoots in our bedrooms. Took mirror selfies like editorials. Made videos with zero budget but high energy. And it worked.

It’s Not About Numbers. It’s About Niche.

The moment you decide to stop trying to be everything to everyone, your brand begins to build itself. Want to be the girl who only wears vintage blazers and drinks martinis? Be her. Want to post about wellness rituals, AI tools, or London cafés? Go in — hard.

The niche isn’t the restriction. It’s the strategy.

It tells your audience (and brands) what they can expect — and what you deliver.

Pitching With 500 Followers? Yes.

Here’s what matters more than your follower count:

• Your vibe: Is your content consistent in aesthetic and tone?

• Your voice: Do you speak to an audience (even if it’s small)?

• Your value: Do you show how you can bring attention to a brand in your own way?

If you’re creating high-quality content with a clear style, brands will take you seriously. Especially smaller or emerging brands who need exactly what you offer: authentic promotion in exchange for content, reach, or just a genuine relationship.

Don’t wait until someone tells you you’re an influencer.

Act like one. Reach out. Pitch yourself. Create. Post. Repeat.

Block Out the Noise

When we started, people rolled their eyes. Friends questioned why we were taking so many photos or filming ourselves all the time. Some people unfollowed. Some laughed.

Now? They ask us how we did it.

So here’s the truth: If you want to be a content creator, just start.

Start messy. Start small. Start scared. Just start.

And most importantly — put all your energy into this. Not halfway. Not “when you have time.” All in.

You don’t need followers. You need focus.

See you on the explore page.
